Passion Behind Journal Pathways ~ Pt 2
Journal Pathways is Significant for me. What "Pathways" Can Mean for You.
A few weeks ago, I digressed and started where I should have 18 months ago. I began to share about myself and why I chose the name Journal Pathways for my crafting/writing/mentoring/Substack newsletter business name.
I chose to explain in two parts, publishing the “Journal” explanation on April 23 and wrapping up with the “Pathways” segment today. You can view that posting here: Passion Behind Newsletter Titles
We are all on a journey in this life, and Pathway is an excellent metaphor for our personal journeys. I find the terminology for traveling, road trips, and journeys befitting and descriptive of the ups and downs and challenges we often encounter in life.
Life’s journey: A pathway
I'm digressing momentarily and reemphasizing my passion for choosing “Journal.” If you’ve journaled at all, then you know journaling is likewise a journey, creating a pathway of stories, events, and memories of our lives.
We can see and remember our yesteryears, like looking in the rearview mirror, on a road trip. If we make a wrong turn while driving, how often have we said, “Wasn’t I just on this same road a few minutes ago?

Have you been making the same wrong turn, ending up on the same destructive road, and can’t figure out how to get off?

Likewise, when we journal for any length of time, we can review our previous writings, reliving our mistakes and victories . . . seeing the changes we’ve made over the years.
Hopefully for the better . . .
But not all of us can say for the better, can we? Maybe as you thumb through years of possibly tear-stained journal entries, you have to admit that many of your words, sentences, even paragraphs may sound similar . . . or even the same. Reiterating the same problems, same heartaches, and disappointments.
The benefit of journaling, of documenting our life’s travels is you see you’re on the same pathway you were on yesterday and the day before, and the year before . . . we must first realize where are before we can make a change.
Whether your yesterdays are documented or not, as you reflect, some of you regretfully have to admit your memories are repeatedly punctuated the same:
Same goals - never came to fruition
Same dreams - slipping further away
Same bad habits - producing the same bad outcomes
Same negative feelings - resulting in more negative relationships
You feel like you’re traveling the same pathway, the same route, the same trip - over and over and over.
My friend, I did it too, - for 50 years! After doing the same thing for 50 years, I experienced monumental change. Therefore, if I can change, yes, yes—yes . . . you can too.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Ps 119:105
This is NOT preaching—not condemnation. This is sharing and learning what I’ve learned over the past six years, and the diligent work required to bring you this story today. If diligently applied, the same steps that worked for me will also work for you.
Within weeks, you can be creating your own measurable and attainable parameters for:
Finding the calm when chaos threatens.
Making the best decision in the moment.
Discovering the living Christ and His plans for you.
Making strides toward an organized home and life.
It’s the drive and passion of my newsletter name, my writings, and my handcrafted journal business to share the living Christ I’ve come to know. It would be a sin, a crime to be living this much transformational change, peace, and contentment and not share it with others.
